Extruded polystyrene foam
Extruded polystyrene foam (XPS) consists of closed cells, offers improved surface roughness as higher stiffness and reduced thermal conductivity. The density range is about 28 - 70 kg/m3.
Extruded polystyrene is used in civil projects building, particularly in aggressive or fully immerged environments. Because of the extrusion manufacturing process, XPS does not require facers to maintain its thermal or physical property performance. Thus, it makes a more stable substitute for Polyurethane and Phenolic board which degrades in time.
Thermal resistivity is usually about 32 m•K/W and often achieve in your build up a U-value of 0.20 - 0.18 @ 100mm thick.
